It was a valiant but an unlucky performance by the boys on a dusty Woodley ground on the hot Saturday evening. We lost by a solitary goal.
We lined up with Kasee, Atuulo and Kangi in the front line with Justo, Gody and Walt marshaling the midfield. Makori, Lefty Olii and Ihaji were our back 4. Musa was between the post.
We dominated the first half and could have had at least 2 goals in the first 20 minutes. An inexplicable error by our keeper led to a corner that found an unmarked opponent who headed it in in the far post to end the first half on a low.
We started the second half with more intent and speed that bore a penalty. It just wasn’t our day though as Gody, the most reliable penalty taker in the team, failed to convert.
We kept on with the push even through the changes; Atuulo, Kasee and Kangi out for Byron, Marvo and Caleb, but all in vain.
Olii was for the second time voted man of the match, the first being in the first game against Commercial FC.
In the post match team talk, one of our Board Members in attendance, Wanjie, urged the boys to be stronger mentally despite difficult moments in a game like conceding a weak goal or missing a penalty. And with his words, we dust ourselves off, keep our heads up and wait for Monday evening when we start it all over again on the training pitch to prepare for the next game; away to Wajiji.
