After goals from Atuulo and Oriaso helped us past MKU the previous weekend we headed to woodley last weekend for a derby against Gogo boys from Kibra. Here’s our starting XI against Gogo;
Subs: Kolongo, Rambo, Oriaso, Justo, Weirder, Willy, Jeff
The game started at a very high tempo with both teams looking to press high but despite the frantic tempo of a typical derby no real chances were being created in the opening quarter. We had the first sniff at goal when Atuulo brilliantly wriggled past a host of defenders in the box but saw his goal bound shot blocked by the diving Gogo skipper. Byron blasted over from the edge of the box few minutes later after receiving a timed cutback from Kasee after he went past the opponents right back with his usual trickery.
Gogo were awarded a penalty after Manga was judged to have blocked their striker running through on goal. Their defensive midfielder Yaya stepped up but placed his shot wide right of Bena’s goal. Atuulo then saw his powerful header from a Shem corner smash against the bar right on the stroke of half time. The first half ended nil nil.
The second half saw coach GS make changes including reverting to a 3-4-3 formation in a bid to reinforce the midfield but it didn’t seem to work as neither team created clear goal scoring chances apart from half chances that we were unable to finish and it ended in a barren draw.
This Saturday its the turn of Gor Mahia youth to visit lower Kabete at 3pm for yet another derby match. After dropping our first points last weekend there’s some added pressure to go back to wining ways but coach GS doesn’t seem to think so, here’s what he had to say about today’s match:
Coach GS on the added pressure to win today; “No pressure, its just a game like any other. A bit worrying on the finishing but having worked on the weaknesses seen over the week we should be able to manage the game better and win”
Coach GS on who get the nod in goal today; “Bena or Kolongo may get the chance considering Musa has had a shoulder injury”.
Come on Tandaza, lets do this with pride and passion.
